Casa Giorgio Vasari a Firenze

Where Santa Croce, 8, Firenze

After a restoration that lasted many years, the house where the Florentine Giorgio Vasari lived the last years of his life and died there in 1574, is open to the public. The house is situated in a sixteenth-century palace of Borgo Santa Croce not far from the square. The house has undergone several restorations, which, however, have spared the Great Hall, the only remains today one of those painted by the master and his collaborators. The restoration and opening to the public of the house in 2011 coincided with the celebration of the fifth centenary of the birth of the artist.
