Where Piazza Municipio, Napoli

The Railway Hall of the Naples metro, work by Portuguese architects Alvaro Siza Viera and Edoardo Souto de Moura, is a successful example of public work that combines the function of the service to the free fruition of a work of contemporary art. Defined by Achille Bonito Oliva, scientific project coordinator, a "mandatory museum", the Metropolitan Art guarantee citizens the use of public transport and the enjoyment of a form of social art. The archaeological remains found during the works (Roman ships, landing docks, thermae architecture and fortifications from the adjacent Aragon Castel Nuovo) provide an example of environmental stratification of great archaeological interest, a museum in the making of a work of art entrusted by Michal Rovner, "Passages": large video installation that links the past to the present. The redevelopment of the square also included the relocation of the sixteenth Neptune's Fountain, located under the St. James's Palace (seat of the Municipality of Naples) and the restoration of original so-called "water jokes".
