Chiesa di Santa Brigida

Where Via San Brigida, Napoli

The Church dates back to 1609, when the bourgeois Giovanni Antonio Bianco, decided to open in his private home a chapel dedicated to St. Brigid. Only after the Archbishop license the Church was able to open in 1610. The modest facade is composed by two registers: the first Ionic with a simple portal and entablature which bears a Greek inscription, the second characterized by the presence of the window. The interior has a Latin cross with chapels, has cycles of paintings by Luca Giordano, who was buried there, complemented by Giuseppe Simonelli. The dome is topped by a majestic  elicodiale lantern, open at the base by small oval windows.
