Via dei Tribunali (Decumano maggiore)
Where
Via dei Tribunali, 50-62, Napoli
Decumano higher is one of the most important streets of the historic center of Naples, declared "World Heritage" by UNESCO in 1995. It corresponds to today's Via dei Tribunali and follows entirely the ancient Greek road: starts at Port'Alba and Bellini Square and ends at the Castel Capuano. The latter is the reason why the road was named, since the sixteenth century, "dei Tribunali": the Castle, in fact, in the sixteenth century, at the behest of Don Pedro of Toledo, assumed the role of City Court. On Street overlook important places of worship, including the St. Paolo Maggiore, St. Lorenzo Maggiore and Girolamini's Church.
